Asbestos: awareness and safety measures

What is asbestos? Where is it used? What potential health risks does it pose? How can you identify, manage, and safely dispose of it?

These crucial topics were thoroughly discussed at the "Inspection of Buildings for Detection of Asbestos Materials" course held on June 19. This event was organised in the frame of the "De-risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits" project with the support of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.

Engineers, researchers, students, faculty members and other specialists gathered to delve into asbestos hazards, risk management, and detection methods.
Speakers Dshkhuhi Sahakyan and Tigran Oganezov emphasized the importance of asbestos awareness, international regulations, Armenian legislation and international obligations.

Within the framework of the project, a similar event was also held for regional specialists in February. They also got acquainted with methods of detection and identification of asbestos-containing materials, risk management, methods of waste treatment and disposal.
